[SHE SAID]

ABOUT THE BAND.

Three piece Australian Alternative Rock band ‘Filthy Rocks’ twists genres and societal conventions, incorporating rock, punk, and metal into a rebellious mix that has made them a voice to the outcast. Finding their sound from the 2000’s music scene with bands like, ‘Fall Out Boy’ ‘My Chemical Romance’ and on-top of that grunge influences from the 90s like ‘Nirvana’. Blending punk spirit with pop hooks, they made a steady climb in late 2022 and releasing their first professionally produced single “She Said” in late 2023. While blowing up on tik Tok, Filthy Rocks continue to spread their message being, if you ever feel alone, join our family.

Bedroom rockers turned internet sensations: Filthy Rocks are blowing crowds away!  - Region Riverna (Jarryd Rowley)

Touring the country, performing their own hits and sharing their inspirations are some of the dreams that local rock band Filthy Rocks hope to achieve.

With humble beginnings of recording out of their lead guitarist’s spare room, these rockers have worked hard to perform at gigs and locations such as the Thirsty Crow and the Flow Festival while continuing to promote their band.

Now, after going viral on TikTok and releasing two singles on Spotify and Apple Music, the sky is the limit for trio Ryan Pickering, John Fletcher and Connor Hodges.

It has been hard work for them, however, as just a year ago aspiring guitarist Ryan and drummer John initially struggled to find a third member and bassist for their band.

Between bass players who couldn’t play the bass, members who moved on too quickly and some who just weren’t a great fit, Filthy Rocks just wasn’t complete.

Despite the challenges, Ryan and John finally landed on Connor.

Hidden Intent – Gig Review & Photo Gallery 17th Feb @ Tilly’s, Wagga Wagga NSW - (TYLER LIKES MUSIC)

The night began with Wagga Wagga locals Filthy Rocks. From the get-go, they were keen to make themselves known and make it clear that while there are inspirations for their music, they are not just another rock/grunge band. I am happy to report they succeeded. Mixing covers and originals in their set, Filthy Rocks set the energy high to start off the evening. Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Pickering displayed versatile vocal style with high and low inflections throughout and catchy guitar riffs to build solid rhythms alongside rockstar solos. Bassist Connor Hodges and drummer John Fletcher enhanced the show with high energy and pure enjoyment on and off stage. Filthy Rocks’ goal is to make every performance one to remember, and they truly delivered. I am excited to see how these guys continue to grow and improve.
